PLEASE HELP - 2002 SL1 rear automatic door lock not working

I have an 2002 SL1 - 4 door with about 165K miles.

The rear drivers automatic door lock isn't working with either the key fob or when I push the lock button on the inside of the drivers door.

This is the door that I get my 3 yr old son in and out of and I can't leave this door locked or unlocked.

Is there any way to fix this. If so, how complicated is it? What would cause this to stop working?

Please, Please, Please help if you can. This is a big pain in the rear having to reach around to lock/unlock that door.
