Default Theft-deterrent Radio Installation?

I pulled a Saturn CD-player w/EQ from the junkyard, and it says Theft Deterrent on it.

I want to replace my stock cassette player with it.

Are there any issues I should know about since it is theft deterrent? Will it most likely be locked since it was from a junked car?

Well it turned out to not be locked and it works great! Horray for great sound quality.

However, um, I have a problem...

When I press the rear de-fogger button, it doesn't light up...and it's not raining or snowing or anything so I don't really know how to test it.

I unplugged the battery when I swapped the radios themselves, but then stupidly I forgot to plug the de-fogger back in and I did so AFTER reconnecting the battery...could this have caused a short? bad fuse?

I just noticed that my chime isn't working either...maybe a bad chime module?

Time to start checking fuses.

Should I be looking for fuses for the defogger/froster or fuses for the chime? or both?

I have not cheated and looked at a schematic but I think you want to check the body fuse first. That is the Sat eve guess. I will go dig up a diagram and refine that if that does not get it. There are two places to check, The kick panel fuse panel and the under hood junction block, its next to the battery.

I'd check both fuses. As for testing the defogger, you can unplug the connector at the back window, turn on the defogger switch and check for power at the connector with a 12 volt test light. A test light is also a quick and easy way to check fuses without removing them.

Everybody should have a good test light or a multimeter. You are lost without one or the other.

Guys, I was about to pull out my multimeter and do some testing, but my defroster AND chime are miraculously working...funny how cars will fix themselves sometimes

All I did was remove one of the rear defogger fuses and put it back in.
