To actually answer your question, the '02/'03 Vue's with the 3.0 has an Aisin transmission that uses ATF T-IV. It's usually tough to find regular T-IV at a normal auto parts store. The cheapest place to find it is usually your local Toyota dealer. It typically runs about $5 a quart. It's also readily available on Amazon.

Valvoline Maxlife ATF claims to be T-IV compliant, and most auto parts stores carry Maxlife ATF. If you're looking for a quick, readily available option, Maxlife is definitely an option. It's a good quality fluid that can be used as an alternative to T-IV.

As far as the AC Delco timing belt kit, don't bother hunting it down. The AC Delco kit is just a standard Gates kit in an AC Delco box, along with a GM markup. Just get the Gates kit, which will include the updated adjustable pulleys for the 3.0 and is readily available almost anywhere.

Pick up 5 Qts of T-IV.
I used the Gates TCK285BP kit.
Compare Rockauto and Amazon.

I think they are a very solid tranny - we see very few problems posted here. The TCM is probably more likely to cause issues.

I remember when I had my VUE, I would get the T-IV fluid from Toyota, and it was cheaper than from the Saturn dealer.

If it's dark and burnt, you will have to change it at least 3 times with a few miles drive in between to get it looking decent.
