Default Glove box latch sticks

I am having an issue with my glove box. On either side of the glove box, is a latch, that sticks out, to hold the door closed when shut. Both of them stick, and wont come out when I close it. I am able to pull them out, but once I close the door, and it goes back in, they stay in. Is there any way of fixing this issue, or any way of opening the the door to fix the latches?

If you search on here you'll find this is a common issue. The glove box door was poorly designed with a spring that isn't strong enough to keep the latches coming back out. Cold weather seems to exacerbate the issue.

You have two options for a fix:

1. Buy a new glove box door (around $100).
2. Carefully cut the glove box door open and replace the spring with a stronger one. One user did this and provided a detailed overview of this procedure.
