Default Oil Pump Questions

Does the Vaseline get packed into the pump gearing only? I am confused on how extensive to pack it in. Can old cover bolts (oil pump cover) be reused with RTV sealant? Thanks for the help.

The entire cavity under the pump cover gets primed/lubed up.
The cover bolts are supposed to be replaced with new when removed.

Thank you ssicarman. I know new is reccomended but I thought that some have reused the old ones successfully with sealant. Maybe my pump on order will come with new bolts. If not I will head to the dealer. What about an upgraded pump cover? Do you think I need this? I have a 97 SC1.

For information to the forum, new Melling oil pump came today (after my previous post). Pump has new bolts, only they are plain with no sealant. Instructions say to use a "thread locking adhesive".
