Cool I finally got my ION!!!

Well, after waiting nearly a year to get my ION, I finally got it today, after almost two strokes at the dealer. I went to Saturn of York Road thinking I was going to Balloon Finance a Rain Forest Green ION2. Well, it turns out it was already sold. Then, I tried for a Polar White ION2 (with a little more equipment), and that was going to be $300 a month, on the Balloon Finance. Wait, how can that be possible? I didn't find out until I got to the dealer that you can't take the $3,000 rebate with the Balloon Finance. On I move to a cheaper, stripped black ION2. Someone messed up at the dealer because they said they had it in stock, but couldn't find it. Talk about being professional... So, as a last resort, I asked about an ION1. They had ONE left, the Berry Red model I ended up getting, with 33 miles on it. So, I got the particular color I swore I would never get. It's not really all that bad, it's growing on me; I love my first car, my Berry Red ION1. It was $13,225, with Automatic, A/C, and CD Player; $262 a month. I took the 0% APR since it would have been a higher payment taking the $1,000 cash back. I also got Gap Insurance and Dissability Insurance (which will come in very handy; if you are out of work for at least 7 days with a doctor's note, they will pay that month's payment, and my dad is going to have a knee replacement and be out for 4 months, so 4 free payments totalling $1,048, which is like getting both the $1,000 AND 0% APR for 5 years). I only have one complaint. The sun visors are really flimsy compared to the ones in the TrailBlazer, but what can I expect? Not everything is perfect

Well...congrats!

I honestly didn't think you'd get one so quick, but I guess I was wrong.

I forgot to mention the part were the dealer suddenly got snippy and quiet when I mentioned the Flex Vouchers, and he had the Finance lady come over and she said they were only for people who were really upside down in their trade in, which I don't buy, but that's OK because I'm still happy with my purchase, at least for right now. I might change my mind when I see the 2005 pics tomorrow I got a free keychain flashlight as a gift, but they didn't take my picture or anything

Chris - it looks awesome!! That was actually my second color choice after black. I really think that red is sharp, especially with the grey interior.

Good job on your ION! I hope you're as happy with yours as I am, and always remember we picked them up on the same day!

We'll have to see who puts more miles on in the coming months. I picked mine up with 16 miles on the clock and ended the day with 57 . I'm a pretty average driver though so usually I do about 1000 miles per month.

Good luck!

Mattytee, (and everyone else) thanks! I'm sure you will be putting more milage on your ION than I will be on mine; as you can see, the TrailBlazer is about a year and a half old and hasen't even broken the 10,000 mile mark yet I think my ION will be one of the ones with the LOWEST mileage around Another good thing is that the first payment isnt due for a month and a half, on September 14th

My mom, who absolutely hated the center IP before, actually loves it now

I think it's not bad for a first car, but I might get it painted in the far future if I get tired of the Berry Red. I really wanted an Electric Blue ION2 sedan but my dealer had a very limited selection of ION's in general. I just found out while looking at my window sticker, that my ION came from Saturn of Ellicott City; they must have had a surplus of ION1's while my dealer had a deficiency...

Chris - we had the same thing here...seems like a bit of a shortage on ION 2 & 3 for some reason. Probably because it's the end of the model year. I had to wait two weeks for mine to come from Spring Hill!

You don't like the color that much? I think its a sharp color. Anyone else that has that color, how hard is it to keep clean? My Electric Blue gets dirty and its not too terribly noticeable. I know the black is a pain to keep clean. Congrats on your new purchase and may it provide you w/enjoyment for years to come

They are extra incentives the dealers give you to help lower the price of the car and ultimately, your payment. Each one is $250 and the maximum per buyer is 6 (for a total of $1,500 extra off). I guess (my dealer, anyway), only gives them to people who have thousands of dollars more than the trade value left on their trade in.

BTW, I'm not particularly fond of the Berry Red; I think it's a little too closer to pink or magenta than it is to red.

Sounds cool that you finally got a car. Glad it was an Ion. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. I'd race ya, but I'm a bit away from Maryland.

Congrats Chris. I am so glad that you were able to get an Ion. I like the Berry Red color as well. Good Luck and best wishes for many miles with your Ion. After almost 2 years, I am still in love with mine.

I think we can probably say that each one of our IONs look the best. But overall I think the ION is just the best looking car period.

Congrats Chris on your new ride! I like the color / interior combo.

I feel your frustration finding your "perfect ION". I've had mine a month now & had the dealer look in 3 states to no avail. The dealer had one coming from Spring Hill, so I had to wait

The best part was today! I had a tricked out Cavalier owner drooling over my ION

I'm sure you will enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Congrats on your purchase man. That berry red is a sharp color indeed. Imagine it with tints, lowered, and some rims, and you'll appreciate the color alot more than you do now. LOL

The absolute only drawback to the Ion 1 to me is the 14" tires and less than flattering wheel covers. Rims would be my first investment, nothing special, but 16 inchers for sure. Even from a saftey standpoint Those tires are unexceptable when compared to higher model Ions, they felt very slippery to me when I test drove an Ion 1.

Other than that the Ion 1 is a great car, and BerryRed is very nice. The thing I like most about the Ion 1 is not having to be forced to get a lesser motor just because it's the base model, like most companies do.

Enjoy your Ion, and your not missing much with the 2005 facelift.
