Default Front wipers try to cycle

I have a 2003 vue 4cyl.manual.The oil housing filter cover cracked and spewed oil everywhere under the hood . After the repair my wipers stopped working they try to cycle but can't its like there is a limit switch that stops the from moving more than an inch a. Any ideas. Thanks

Does the rear wiper move normally?

If yes it may mean problem with front wiper is isolated to wiper motor connectors (and not wiper relay located in underhood fuse block).

If it were mine I'd unplug wiper related connectors and use electrical contact cleaner to remove all traces of oil from plug and receptacle.

Reconnect and check results.

Thanks Mr Grumpy I will attempt your suggestion as the rear wiper does indeed work normally. I will post the outcome.

Okay I exposed the wiper motor and the harness was clean and not fouled with oil. When I start the car the wipers try to cycle no matter what position my stalk is on it seems to be stuck on intermittent any body have a guess

There are two wiper relays in underhood fuse block - I'd remove both relays and check/clean any oily residue from sockets.

If problem still present I'd try substituting for FRT WIPER relay with another of same part number.

If no help try temporary replacement of WIPER SYSTEM relay.

If problem persists its probably the wiper control stalk - I see these online (RockAuto.com) ranging from $65 to $85.
