Default 2000 LW2: proactively replace BCM, or wait?

I haven't had fatal grief with the Body Control Module on our 2000 LW2 wagon ... yet. But reading the BCM threads, I'm a bit anxious it will bite me in the butt someday. As a seat of the pants assessment, if the BCM has made it this far (6 years) can I hope I got a BCM that is OK, or is it truly just a matter of time before it fails?

We've had one incident with the door locks unlocking on their own while driving, about 6 months ago.

That's like taking out a healthy appendix, because lots of people have problems with theirs. Just try to remember it could happen, but it's not certain it will. I'd leave it, and do your best to be prepared for if it does.

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire Uzzy.

Good advice from Uzzy... don't fix unless it's broken, but always be prepared.

Good advice, thanks. I like the appendix analogy. Oddly enough, my mom (62 years old) had to have hers removed last year.

Why'd she wait until she was so old? She coulda had it done 20 years ago
