2005 RELAY-3
Default Misc issues with 2005 Relay

The day I test drove my car (it had about 100 miles on it if even that) my driver side power door closed almost all the way, didn't latch and popped back open. I should have backed away very quickly from that car, but didn't. They said they fixed it (replaced the sensor that time) and sent me on my way with my new car. It is now about 3 years later and it still does it. I've had it in about 10 times in the last 3-4 months because I finally decided I was worthy of a car that actually worked right and wanted them to fix it. They've replaced sensors again and even replaced the motor the last time around. That worked great...for 3 weeks. It is doing it again and I just dropped it off again at the dealer. Has anyone found something that actually works? Is it even worth taking in and having to get a rental (which at least they pay for) and taking the time/gas to go down there? It does it probably once every other day or so and more so when it rains.

Another thing with the door that just started happening...every so often, I push the power door button on my key fob and the passenger side won't open...it makes a noise like it wants to, but won't. Then I pull the handle myself and that won't work either. I have to physically pull it open...can't be good for the motor.

My driver side power door has NEVER had a single problem.

Also - my side trims on the doors are getting rusty and fast. It happened first when I lived in CA a mile from the beach. I thought it was just the salty air and took it in and they replaced them. It has been about 2 years since I did that and now I live in TN (very far from anything salty) and they are rusting again, same side. I've asked them to replace those as well while it is in the shop.

The shocks suck...how do I know if they are bad? I thought this car was on a car chassis? It feels more like a truck at times...I go over a bump or railroad tracks and it just SLAMS back down...jars the heck out of my head!

Other than that, I do love my car...it gets pretty good gas mileage, fits all of my family great and luckily I haven't had many of the "running" problems a lot of others have. I do wish I could sell it for a good amount though! Luckily, we bought it outright, so we don't owe money...but still. I can't sell it for enough to buy a new decent car, that is for sure!

Oh my we had so many door problems. It's my understanding that after bringing in a super tech from Saturn they decided that the door was closing at the wrong speed or something.

Saturn knows of this problem. This isn't something new and surprising to them. My van has spent HOURS, DAYS and WEEKS in the shop because of it. I know my dealer had to have some special guy come in and fix it and look at it.

If you call Saturn customer care ask for Tabitha. She's the overly pleasant yet completely unhelpful person I had to deal with. She might be helpful for you if she can look up and see what they actually did with my van to fix it.

I'm not really sure what they did in the end...it was in there so many times.

I also had times when the door just wouldn't open...or close no matter what you seemed to do.
