Default mystery sensor

02 dohc
I ask only because it's not in the Chilton, and without the slightest idea of a description Google isn't doing any good.
Its an engine block sensor on the intake side, between the knock sensor and crank position sensor. Its round, maybe 3/4 inch thick, the face in contact is metal, and it through bolts to the side of the block.
What is it?

Another mystery is why do I have a bracket/brace leftover from the engine. Six inches long, one bolt on each end, twisted 90... Alternator brace? Starter brace?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Post a picture of the sensor and it's location.

I bet the brace goes between the TB and the EGR valve.

on my 99 sc2 there is a bracket that goes from throttle body towards front of engine bay, I think to stiffen the throttle body a bit.

Oil pressure sender

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Negative on oil sender. Im looking at the knock sensor, I'm almost sure of it. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=122196
From the description in the Chilton (no diagram of course), I had the oil pressure sender confused with the knock sensor.

As for the brace, I'm still searching. Based on all the grime, it should've come from somewhere below the tb, on the backside of the motor. There's an almost identical brace from the intermediate shaft bearing block to the underside of the manifold. I set it aside with one bolt, so one end bolts somewhere there wasn't a bolt, and the other end bolts to somewhere that has a bolt already....

Tried using online auto parts places that show parts? Autozone, Advanced Auto, Pepboys, rockauto, etc.? A short list of sensors on that side of the engine would be; knock, oil, and crank sensor. An even faster way to identify parts if you have any nomenclature, Google and selecting images.........

Why the curiousity?

If you are asking about the device mounted at 27, that is the knock sensor. Design for the connector changed for Gen-3.

if it's round like a stack of 5-6 quarters with a hole through the center, it's the knock sensor. the brace isn't to secure the fuel line by chance? a picture would solve the mystery in seconds.

Can't on a 3rd gen DOHC, at least not the same way as 1st and 2nd gen DOHC's and 2nd and 3rd gen SOHC's.

Guessing either power steering pump brace or axle bracket to IM brace (both pictured).

Lower plastic intake brace that is centered under the throttle body.
