2000 L-Series 2.2L Sedan
Default If you're replacing a rack and pinion gear consider Detroit Axle

First of all, I do not work for nor am I affiliated in any way with Detroit Axle. (They're in MI and I'm in CA.) My experience with their product and service recently has been remarkably good. Learning of this company from a member who is no longer active in SaturnFans (L Series owner) I decided to use their product for my own need. The rack was installed earlier this week. Here's how things worked out.

1) The cost for the rack - $102.25 - and two new outer tie rods ends (greaseable) - $22.00 - was $124.25 with $0.00 shipping charges (regular ground shipment). Included in the packaging were two o-rings to replace the ones on both power steering hose end fittings attaching to the rack (if the hoses were not being repalced and mine weren't). There is no core charge whatsoever.

2) The lifetime warranty offer requires the return of the core. The company provides a shipping label for that purpose and shipping was via UPS. I fully expected that I would be paying for the return shipping costs. The core was returned today with the shipping label affixed. I was handed a receipt, thanked by the UPS store manager and told there was NO CHARGE for the return shipment. That's fabulous!!! This pricing and shipping is not equaled by any other source online. (Had I been responsible for paying the shipping costs the amount would've been a little over $55.00.)

I heartily recommend utilizing Detriot Axle to any DIYer. Expedited shipping is available.

322,000 miles - Holy canolli!
The blessings of liberty erode in my country.
Gov't's grown bigger, but a chance exists that it will be reduced. I'm cautiously hopeful.
