1995 SL1
Default Left turn signal turns off dash lights

1995 SL1 Auto. When the left turn signal is activated, it also kills the dash lights. Only happens when signal is 'fully engaged' ( does not happen when using the 'lane change' feature). Right signal is normal and all other functions including cancelling also work properly.
Is there any cure short of replacing the entire multifunction switch assembly?
Is it possible to clean and lube the switch? Without removing it from car, perhaps only removing clamshell column covers and not removing airbag and steering wheel, then flushing with contact cleaner and lubing?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
