Default Tpms sensors on after market wheels

I'm looking at aftermarket wheels and I'm curious if I could use the stock tpms on aftermarket wheels,
has anyone done this?
Should I buy generic gm sensors?

Yes, you can use the stock sensors, but you might want to consider new ones. The batteries in the sensors are not replaceable, and are only supposed to last 7 years or 100,000 miles or so, and they are now going on 9 years. Mine are all still going OK, but I have two sets, and alternate between winter and summer tires. If I were having new tires put on, I might just bite the bullet and get new sensors.

Has anyone had their sensors die yet, and if so, how many miles/km did you have?

Similar experience here - I have yet to replace the TMPS sensors on either of my vehicles, but I do run with two sets of tires and TMPS on each summer / winter for the last 4 years or so.

I just recently had to have one replaced. Changing to winter tires. The core of the value corroded and fused itself closed. Electronics were still working, and the other 3 are fine.

Plug & drive! Trouble free: Direct fit!

DORMAN 974030

No programming tool needed!
Nice two-piece design: The valve stems are independent from the sensors.
