Default Engine Break In

I have heard a lot of different stories on how to break in an engine. Everything from driving it slowly for 500 miles to 10,000 miles. Even to top the car out after 500 miles!?! Anybody have educated advice on this topic?

read the saturn owners handbook. it says in there how to "break in" the engine.
