2004 VUE 2.2L
Default 04 Vue door seal

I'm looking for a source for a drivers side door seal, the one that goes around the opening on the body, not the door. Mine is starting to get a little worn by the door latch and down by the carpet retainer.

I got this item from local GM dealer a couple of years ago. Although my Vue is an 06 I would think this part would be the same for 04. Part number 15907478, $100 Cdn. (not cheap)

Thanks, Jesse. Are you sure this is the weatherstripping that goes around the door opening on the body, and not the door itself? I only ask again because the exploded parts diagram doesn't make that clear.

Yup, on the body. Took about a half an hour to install. Press fit, no glue.

One more question, from the looks of it this same part number works for both front doors. Is that correct?

This part has been discontinued and getting harder to find. Makes me wonder if I could take one in good condition off of a passenger-side door in a junkyard and put it on the drivers-side on my Vue.

Or just replace the sections that are worn with good sections from another used one, just carefully rubber cement the ends and press it on.

Thinking back to when I replaced mine, I recall the stripping was just one long piece that required one to start at the middle of the bottom at the sill and attach it as you worked around the opening. It turned out to be a couple of inches too long requiring trimming to butt up against where it started. It could be used on either side. I recall the new piece had what is called a rip-cord to facilitate it fitting over the door flange. I think if you take your time you could remove one without it tearing but re-installing it might be a bit of a struggle. Good luck.
