1996 SC2
Post My Saturn Story

So, I was looking for a cheap car for my son who is overseas and is moving back to the states to go to school. After searching for a month or so through the local ads and craigslist I went to drive a '96 SC2 with 91,000 miles on it. It ran good and everything seemed to work fine. It had some minor body damage (cracked fender, dented hood, missing a foglamp). Paid the guy $1400 for it. Found a local junkyard where I paid $120 for a front fender, fender liner, hood, fog lamps, plastic molding behind the front bumper. $75 for paint which a friend painted the fender and hood for nothing. Front seats were shredded, so $400 to recover them (it had some cheap slip covers on the seats, but I hate those things!). $25 for Wal-Mart floor mats. So, now I've got about $2000 invested and the car looks good and runs great. Considering the other cars I looked at which had major mechanical problems for the same price, I feel like I got a good deal on this.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

i got my 96 sc2 with the same miles you have but got it in '03. it was neglected badly (interior is bad) but it has been a great car ever since. it only needed a transmission in 06, lack of fluid changes from previous owner(s). it now has 164K on it and still drives great. check the oil often and it'll last many years

Congrats. You got one of the most sought after Sattys out there.

I'd love a 96 SC2 manual.

He'll be happy - they are great little cars.

Make sure he checks the oil every fillup for the first few tanks until he gets an idea of the oil use. these cars are notorious for using oil, even when the engine is in excellent running condition.
