2007 VUE 3.5L
Default Nifty feature of 2.4-single click start

I found when starting my 2.4, all I need to do is a quick turn of the key. It will continue to crank until the engine starts. (I've found normally it catches immediatley and I would otherwise not notice, however today for some reason it took a couple cranks to get going, and did so on it's own)

Anybody else notice this?

hm - i wonder if that means it'd be super easy to do a push-button start for it?

My '05 Ion 1 with the 2.2 does that as well. There is also a starter overrun where the starter won't engage if the engine is running.

I have also noticed this, like you it only happened once recently or I wouldn't have known.

Tried it tonight - too funny! I will now always start the car that way...why "hold" it?

As far as the Big Red Button..do I hear a Miata fan? That was huge with Miatas in say the early 2000's. I still have my "Big Red Button" in fact. It would fit nicely in the power outlet in the front (or rear if you're extra concerned about theft) console. That's where they were at least originally designed to go (the cig lighter hole). But the wiring I'm sure would be a nightmare as these new Ions are electronic everything.

The pushbutton start has been talked about before on here, they were just trying to do it on an 04- model i'm sure. Now that it appears 05+ have this, maybe it'd be a ton easier!

I think the easy start feature is on most 05 and later model vehicles made by General Motors. I have a small sample size, but here are some vehicles in my family that DO have that barely touch the starter starter.

My 06 Ion
Wife's 06 Envoy
Brother's 05 Cobalt SS
Sister in law's 06 Trailblazer.

I went to drive my dad's 01 Cavalier and tried the "EZ Start" because both our cars have it. It doesn't have it, obviously. I felt dumb.

I tried it on mine real quick and then heard what sounded like a tin can exploding... So, my Ion doesn't like having the starter motor clicked on for a half second and retaliates by backfiring quite loudly. I think I scared my dog.

05 ION 2 has it. I realized this the first couple days after I bought the car. Really handy, and it's more of a feature that the upper-class cars have, so I feel special
