Default a sound deadening idea...

Someone told me at an auto sound installer shop, that they use a asphalt material spray on certain pans undernealth the car. I found something like this, from the brand, Bondo at menards. I guess it not only deadens sound but provides rust protection. Any thoughts to this idea and anything I should know about doing this. It specifically said, no spraying on engine parts and exhaust, which I already know.

I dont have time to pull up the carpeting and dynamat is too expensive for my poor soul. I've already spent $3000 on this car and will not spend on parts unless they help the car run or solve a safety issue. lol. I'm still paying for my rims, and I want an intake, muffler and a strut bar. I just replaced my front brakes with expensive rotors. Enough said. lol.

My sled came with a full undercoat. Only noise I hear is from engine/exhaust mods, some slight wind noise from upper doors (common, I think) and stereo when it's on. Other than that, the car is silent. Was that way when I bought it in '02, and still is. Well, slightly squeaky dash also(common as well, I think).

"1G8ZF5594PZ249184"-Trinity, for three are now one.

Is the guy referring to "undercoating'? This is an asphalt based rubbery sort of spray on [or brush on] type used by dealers to "pack" the price of the car. It has very little rust proofing potential but does have some sound deadening ability. It always costs way more for the customer than the small amount a dealer pays. [Sort of like the paint and interior treatments they offer.]
This can dry out and crack over time holding water and mositure and salt and create a worse problem with rust than the problem with the noise.
There are underhood pads that apply with adhesive that are heat reflecting and inexpensive [about 20.00 a roll plus adhesive spray], also usable in the trunk and other areas.

Not sure if you can use this on the underside of a car but what about Rhino/Line-X truck bedliner?
