Yes, most owners of Saturns I would say know value for money spent. I purchased my current Saturn for $1600 over 3 years ago. Maintenance has been minimal and I could sell it today for $1600

dude its so cheap owning this car... insurance is low , mpgs are high and i bought this car 2+ years ago for 2500$

before i knew anything about cars i thought asian was the way to go, never thought i would love this saturn.

i plan to run it to the ground, im sure it has 0 resale value unfortunately. actually thats a good thing, now i have no choice but to keep it.

You guys are spending less per mile than I have for my Saturn. However, mine's been paid for for 17 years. And it's really not a bad car.

You're fortunate that you're not holding US dollars at least. A lot of us are trading ours for silver or gold coins. Some are even collecting US nickles because they're still real money (2012 or earlier nickles have about 5 cents worth of metal in them). I guess I should try to get back on topic. So, if we fill up our Saturn with toilet paper, the toilet paper will hold its value better than the US dollar as long as helicopter Ben Bernanke keeps the printing presses rolling.

Pay cash for your big ticket items too, I see. My first car `89 Mazda 323 was the first and only thing I ever financed.

At least at your age, you may not see how our current economic situation ends out. I'm hoping they keep the beast alive another 40 years, as I'll be old enough to not care too much what happens to our economy.

To the OP, yeah, I like to call it frugal. I'm one of them. BUT, because I'm frugal on most everything, I do splurge on NEW cars when I'm wanting a more reliable car. I like to make loooong road trips and a five year old (or newer) car is much more likely to survive them than a ten year old (or older) vehicle.

I'm so cheap I own 5 Saturns, 3 of which are currently running (2 in my extended family).

Most I paid was $1500 (the first one and still my 33 MPG DD).

I'm so cheap I drive a 16 yr old Sat in the winter, a 29 year old car in the summer and the wife has a 20 yr old van with 98k on the clock. And.. I wouldn't trade any of them for the current crop of disposable appliances that are currently marketed as "cars".
