2000 SL1
Default SL1 AT Valve Body Replacement

I'm new to this site and this entire process. So, forgive me if I make mistakes, mistatements, whatever. I need help! I will appreciate any comments or assistance anyone might offer.

I have a 2000 SL1 sedan w/1.9 and AT. Car has about 115k, and I have had it since about 98k. Before I bought it, the AT was rebuilt by a good shop, about 2 yrs ago. After much research, quotes, checking the budget, my shadetree buddy (who is good, reliable and reasonably talented), tackled replacing the valve body... which was diagnosed as the problem by a couple of shops.

The swap was reasonably quick. Car fired right up.

PROBLEM 1: No Rev or Neu.
Solution Effort: Was told to block wheels, set brake, idle in Rev position for 30min to get fluid and valves working properly. Did it, but not help.

Swapped old valve body to see if maybe the culprit is the new unit. Same problem!

Reinstalled new valve body; no improvement. Rolled car to street; started and drove for a few miles. Shifts were okay, except for into 3... pretty hard. Shifts were not smooth, but became much better.

There must be a simple step that we are missing. Maybe a reset somewhere. Can anyone help who's been through this? Thank you!
