Default Help Please Gen 3 Head on Gen 2 Block

Hello, everyone just signed up today, working on a 97 SL2 got a donor motor from a 01 car. I swapped out all sensors and put the intake and exhaust manifold off gen 2 onto gen 3 block. I have the gen2 head bolted to the gen 3 block, but I am running into a problem with timing now. I get it all lined up and done, but when I turn it over by hand the timing ends up jumping 1-2 teeth. Basically I am asking is the Gen 2 head compatible with the gen 3 block? I had to use the gen 2 crank pulley because of the timing chains being different. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
