Thumbs Up Re: how many miles do you have on your saturn?

Currently, 302311 on a 97 SL1 and 150000 on a 96 SC2. Just found this site today, been sitting here reading for about 3 hours. Lotsa great info. I bought the 97 for $800 when it had 130000, best $800 I ever spent. Other than regular maintance, all original, and clean as a pin. The 96 is new to me, gotta do a little tweekin on it.

Odometer stopped at 182,000 a good year or 2 ago. 1994 Sc2 With most likely well over 200,000 by now. Burns some oil though I drove it and drove it. It started throwing a tantrum.. Oil was bone dry. I dumped 5 quarts in it. No tapping or anything now. Besides the uncomfortable ageing seats, I love it.

You may not love it so much when it throws a bad tantrum from that zero oil in the crankcase rundown you did....yikes....

141K on my 1993 SL2, runs strong. Need to add a quart of oil every 1200 miles or so, not too bad considering its age.

Hope to do some PM work on it with the stimulus check - plugs, wires, power steering flush/fill.

1996 SL2 232,000 miles. Just changed intake gasket. That and the timing chain were the only real engine work done on it. Did seafoam soak last summer to cut oil burning, now must do it again. 1-2 quarts of oil per week consumption, but I drive 100 miles per day. 26-30 mpg.

This car engine only takes 4 quarts with filter ,, you put 1 quart too much in it

My husbands 2002 SC2 (manual) has 65,658 miles on it as of the last fill-up. He's been averaging 31.82 MPG over the last three tanks and for the life of the car has averaged 30.73 MPG.

My 2006 VUE (manual) has 24,399 miles on it as of the last fill-up. We've been averaging 22.97 MPG over the last three tanks and for the life of the vehicle have averaged 24.77 MPG.

We plan on keeping our current Saturn's until Saturn comes out with plug-in hybrid that meets our needs (a SUV/Van for me, and something more sporty for my husband). Translation, nothing driven by a gasoline (or deasil) engine is being consider as a replacement for our current Saturns!

97 SL (I love unpainted bumpers)
bought new
106,000 miles
hardly any oil use
Used synth oil for about 80,000 of those miles and might go back to synth (I change it at 3000 +/- anyway)

Runs like a top with its new BRASS ECTS! My diff pin is fine too, thank you very much. Interior still almost new.

A life without snow or salt!

Total actual repairs in 106,000 M = about $200.

Looking forward to the next 100,000

Hey,

I have a '91 SC1. It shows about 195,000 miles, but the odometer was dead for about 2 to 3 years until I acquired it and fixed it. I probably have well over 220,000. I use a lot of oil, about a quart a week. I am pretty sure I have a bad rear main seal.

'99 SW2 was at 165,000 when the valve stopped valving. Had a ring job under warranty at 90,000 but still consumed a quart in 500 miles.
Just replaced the engine with a junkyard one that had already outlived a '99 AND a '97.

(when I solve the electricals I must have misbuttoned I'll be happily putting more on it)
