Default 02 vue 3.0 removing intake for valve cover change

hello all i have a few questions,
im going to change both my valve covers as there leaking oil over the manifld and its running down the engine i believe its in the second cylinder spark plug hole to
now i have 2 questions
1. trying to take the intake off the first bolt thats the t40 holding the intake is rounded off any ideas how to get it out
and
2. would oil in the psrak plug boot casue the second cylinder misfire and make the service engine soon light flash and upon acceleration sometimes it knocks and makes the whole car shake i'm assuming this is from the oil in the spark plug hole on cylinder 2 thanks

You might try JB Welding the Torx bit into the screw head. If that fails, I think you are looking at drilling the head off with a long drill bit.

My wells were filled with oil, but I didn't notice any adverse effects . . .

I dunno. After I replaced my gaskets, my VUE was running pretty good . . . for a while. Then I started getting random misfires (P0300). It wasn't really running rough though. Eventually it got worse until it started stalling and would barely idle at all (see thumbnail of codes). It never got bad enough to "shake the whole vehicle". I'm pretty sure I have a bad ECM.

I had a similar issue with my 3.5L after replacing the timing belt. Turns out my son/helper didn't seat the coil on a couple of the plugs well. If you have a misfire on more than one cylinder it tends to throw the 300 as well.

Thx for the tip Robert. This L81 uses 2 coil packs - 1 for each bank - it's hard not to seat them correctly. And I did my Plugs at 96k mi. - didn't start misfiring until 115k.

Did you have to drill the screw out? I wound up replacing some of my boots - ACDelco 16081. You should be popping some codes if you have misfires.

Btw - has your T'stat been replaced lately? That's a pretty cheap part while you have the Intake off.

You want to put a thin bead of silicone on the front and rear of the camshaft cover at both smaller 1/2 circle ends.

Do not over tighten the cam cover bolts. Can't remember the torque off the top of my head, but most wrenches won't go that low. I used a torque wrench designed for bicycle applications.
