Checkered Flag Wierd Exhaust idea

I was wondeering how this would sound on my GrandAms 3400v6, or any other engine:
reworded: what kind of sound characteristics would this give?

headers go into, 2.5" pipes, but most of that long straight pipe under the passenger compartment would be a 3" pipe (basically making a resonator).

I also thought of doing multiple "resonators", going from 2.5 inch to 3 and back to 2.5 and back to 3 and down to 2.5 to go over the rear suspension and out the back.

Just thought it'd be neat to think about.

would it be growly, raspy, or sound like a chambered exhaust (just right)?

I dunno how it would sound, but wouldnt you lose some power with so many "resonators" I know its just something youre thinking about, but the power loss is just something IM thinking about...

I don't think he'd lose any power(minimal at most) if he goes with resonators without a bunch of louvers sticking out. Plus with the 3" and 2.5" piping being bigger than stock he'd still get a better exhaust flow and I've never seen a car with that many resonators but I gotta imagine that it would sound really low and deep and pretty cool coming out of a V6.

Oh, I was just thinking with the excess resonators, it'd be giving the air more to travel through, so it wouldnt be that of an efficent flow.

Changing pipe sizes from small to large and back to small again will REALLY mess with your exhaust velocity. Not using a resonator (a REAL resonator) will make it REALLY raspy. Use a nice long straight-through glass-pack in the center section.

it would be similar to my cheepie blueprint, with the exception of no "inner wall" to the "resonators" shown.

This is going along the center pipe, the only suitable place for them, I was thinking about 3, about 15-20 inches long, maybe. A lot of little ones would mess up exhaust flow, and one big one would provide little silenceing effect. I'd like it loud enough you know it;s there quite well, but not so that it's obnoxious.

It's not so much a matter of messing up flow as making too much turbulence- you'll experience a LOT of backflow with that setup due to the turbulence.... I wouldn't recommend it.... what sound are you exactly hoping to get with this?

I'd go with 2.5" crush piping a 31" glasspack for a resonator and the muffler of your choice. If you want it quiet use a dynomax ST muffler. If you want more volume and maybe a bit more power get a straight through muffler.
