2001 L-Series 3.0L Sedan
Information 2001 Saturn L-300 at end of life

Hi everyone,

My 2001 Saturn L300 is at the end of its life.

It lost its #4 cylinder due to a valve breaking.
I am looking to sell it, and I cant find anyone who will give me more than a token that it is worth in parts.

Would anyone in the Orange County California area know of someplace I can try to sell it.

If anyone is interested in it personally, I will definitely entertain any offer at this point. Just message me.

Thx,

Ken

Welcome to SaturnFans, kenoski, although I'm sorry that it has to be under such unhappy circumstances.

Unfortunately, what I have to write to you here about your situation will not be of any comfort. Any used car's value depends upon the its driveability. If there's a known engine problem such as the one you've described then the car loses almost all of its value at this age. And, frankly, neither your car nor mine have much value left in them from the vantage point of an insurance company or a car dealer of any kind. This is an issue for all of us who continue to drive a car when its become "old."

The fact that you can't find anyone to purchase your car for its potential value in parts which could be sold from it is, unfortunately, to be expected. I learned of this ten years ago when my wife's '94 Camry 2.0L threw a rod a blew a hole in the engine block while traveling south on the 57 (we stopped the car by the Katella off ramp). Although the body, interior and exterior, and transmission were in very good condition for a car with 178K miles, a wrecking yard would only take it off of our hands for $250.00. Wrecking yards pay more for a vehicle with a running engine because that's the item they can make the most money from.

I don't have any recommendations for you as to where you might attempt to sell your car beyond what you might have already considered for yourself. Take a look at the link below, post #3, and the repair company referenced there might be of some help.
