to all those who cant get there USER installed steering wheel radio controls to work
I have an 07 XE
It came with no radio controls on the steering wheel
I bought the bezel and actual control unit off ebay
I replaced the clock spring with one that had the wiring for the radio controls and it didn't work..
I quickly realized that the two NEW wires from the radio control that connected to the new clock spring were both with wiring running to them from the clock spring input.
I dug around and found a wiring diagram from our radio.
I got a couple of connectors and pinned in at pin 11 on the 14 pin connector and pin 14 on the 16 pin connector.
I ran those wires and pinned into pin 7 and 8 on the INPUT side of the clock spring and voila, radio steering wheel controls now work.
SO to those that bought a bezel and the control unit, got em all connected, replaced there clock spring with one with radio control support, and STILL couldn't get there radio controls to work, that is what you need to do.
This SHOULD work for ANY gm car (malibu, g6, etc) that has this type of radio. I know with the pontiacs and some of the malibus, a trip to the dealer has to be done to turn on the controls themselves
Hope this helps
