Default General Motors Company now owns Saturn

On July 10, 2009 Saturn LLC, Saturn Distribution Corporation, General Motors Corporation, and Chevrolet-Saturn of Harlem, Inc., sold a substantial amount of their assets to a new legal entity, General Motors Company.

This means the NEW GM General Motors Company LLC (Vehicle Acquisition Holdings) will be selling Saturn to Penske Automotive Group. Many people believed that Saturn would remain with the OLD GM General Motors Corporation now (Motors Liquidation Company). This is great news for Saturn Warranty and Service.

Really? Everything I've read so far indicated that Saturn was going to stay in the "old" GM. This is the first I've read that Saturn would be part of the "new" GM before its sold. Interesting.

Ahem, WRONG. This is only a Privacy Disclaimer - READ ON...

You should actually read the article not into the article (as in speculations) . As the Penske deal is not completely finalized, Saturn is still owned by GM until it IS finalized and Penske takes over. But that is not what this article is about if you actually understand what it is about.

This is a disclaimer telling GM owners that their personal information is going to be made available to the New GM Company, that's all it is and nothing more.

On July 10th, 2009, General Motors Corporation, Saturn, LLC, Saturn Distribution Corporation and Chevrolet-Saturn of Harlem, Inc., sold most of their assets to a new legal entity, General Motors Company.

THE PRICY DISCLAIMER IS NOT THAT BUT BELOW THAT.
THE NEW GM ALSO OWNS THE COPYRIGHTS/TRADMARKS TO SATURN.

Again with the speculation. For the sake of beating a dead horse, Saturn is still owned by GM until the Penske deal is finalized. Nothing has changed as you imply. GM has always owned and still owns Saturn, until the Penske deal is finalized. Yours is not news at all, but congratulations on your 15 seconds of fame anyways.

GM is still selling Saturn to Penske Automotive Group, but many people including people on CNN, CNBC, FOX Buss thought Saturn would say with OLD GM. That was not the case it was sold to the Government/NEW GM. So when General Motors Company closes the sale of Saturn to Penske the Government/NEW GM will make the money.

If Saturn stayed with the old GM it would now be with Motor Liquidation Company.

This is also better for the short term because the Saturn Dealers are no longer with a bankrupt parent company.

It wouldn't be the first time the media got it wrong.

I suspect the reason Saturn was placed into 'good' GM (until the transaction with Penske is finalized) was to give PAG and Saturn SDC/FOT assurance that they wouldn't be buying into a 'worthless' asset. That, and the fact that Vue, Aura and Outlook models will be built by GM under contract until PAG decides which automaker they will align with moving ahead.

Either way, it's good news, because Saturn's future is now assured. Putting Saturn in the 'new' GM was a smart move by the new company, since they'll likely be able to get more money than in a firesale from liquidation.

Marx404 I think you are the only one posting to this thread that really understands it.
Saturn, Hummer, and Saab were left behind in the old bankrumpt GM. The old GM is going to be split up and sold. The creditors will be left in court to fight for what ever money the sale brings in. They may get 10 cents on the dollor if they are lucky. That is why bond holders where opposed to this plan. Any one who was owed money from the old GM will lose money.

No, i think you both don;t know how to read, "On July 10th, 2009, General Motors Corporation, Saturn LLC, Saturn Distribution Corporation, and Chevrolet-Saturn of Harlem, Inc., sold a substantial amount of their assets to a new legal entity, General Motors Company. These selling companies are transferring your personal information (e.g., your contact information and vehicle purchase history) to General Motors Company. General Motors Company has substantially the same privacy policies in place as General Motors Corporation had. To see General Motors Company new Privacy Statement click here and for information on how to opt-out of being contacted for marketing purposes by General Motors Company (GM)"

If the new GM/General Motors Company did not acquire Saturn LLC, Saturn Distribution Corporation it would not be listed in the Privacy Statement!

That's what was originally speculated, but it looks like Saturn was kept as part of the "new" GM -- for now, at least, until the sale to Penske in a done deal. An interesting twist.

Things are a little confusing here. It may not sound like much, but there is a HUGE legal difference between the now defunct "old GM" and the newly created "new GM". It means that if for some reason the Penske deal falls through, "a substantial amount" of Saturn's assets cannot be seized by creditors unless there's some special clause that we don't know about.

The privacy statement that SaturnIONSLVUE posted specifically mentions Saturn by name, yet if you visit the Hummer and Saab websites, their privacy statements are basically links to the same one SaturnIONSLVUE already posted. If I was an astute Hummer or Saab owner, I would be a lot more confused. Why Saturn is mentioned in the official GM Privacy Policy and not Hummer and Saab is the real question.

Ok my friends I am going to explain this one time and one time only what this letter is about. If you still wish to "read into it" and derive at other conclusions other than what the letter is truly saying then that is your perogitive.

Lat month GM asked all their divisions to hand over all customer data to them. This resulted in a US Congressional Hearing (which was public on C-SPAN TV) with an inquiry all about the rights of peoples personal data and what right GM has to own and use it and if they can force all dealers to hand over YOUR personal information.

As a result and under US Privacy Laws after 9/11 ALL companies are supposed to publicly divulge the intended usage of customer data and who owns it.

So, that is why you and I and everyone who owns a current GM vehicle got that letter from GM. PERIOD. END OF STORY. nothing more to see here, move on.

Regardless of what happens

How many times have we heard the hot air from GM:

"We'll make Customers are #1 Priority"

Yeah Right

GM sucks...period.

Granted that Saturn is going to be owned by Penske in the 3rd Qtr...

Henderson and the GM Brass/Board of Directors can suck it.

The fact that Bob Lutz was called back out of retirement, or had second thoughts now...doesn't say much on the part of GM itself...

In all honesty; the "NEW GM" is going to be a "Re-hash" of the "Old GM"...it will all go to crap once the VOLT hits the market.

I'm waiting for the Fireworks to begin. This should be fun to see GM wallow in it's own pitfalls..not once...but TWICE.

Yeah. Fun times!
