Default Vue Struts advice...

The thing I was told about my VUE when it was last in the shop is that it does need front struts. I may take this opportunity to swap the struts and shocks for factory Redline units. Has anyone done this? What aftermarket shock and struts actually fit for the car and handle as good or better than the Redline stuff?

Cheers! ~MrHtwls

Personally, I would look into OEM Equinox Sport struts. Springs, mounts, and all.

I believe KYB now makes struts for the Vue, IMHO they do make a good part. Your only other aftermarket option that I know of is Monroe, which is more or less a factory replacement.

Has anyone tried the swap? Are they a direct bolt in?

I wondered this as well a few months ago. Based on the pictures I have seen, the spacing of the holes on the Equinox mounts looks pretty similar to the spacing on the Vues mounts, which would mean that the Equinox mounts should be a direct swap to the Vue, but I don't think that anyone on here has actually done the swap.

The strut mounts on the Equinox are held to the body of the vehicle by a set of 3 bolts, unlike the Vue which uses a bolt and a pair of nuts attached to stationary posts on the mount to hold the strut to the vehicle. That seems to be the main difference between the two. Also, even though the spacing looks the same, the bolts may be slightly closer together or further apart, which would make the swap slightly more complicated and would mean that a Vue mount would have to be used.
