Hello!
I've owned my Saturn Vue for almost 3 years... and I looooooved it [minus having to replace the transmission for 8k!] up until a car accident last June.... I've had several issues with my car after the accident, which is common... but there are some that Im having trouble diagnosing! Currently, there are these issues with the dash: - Gas gauge always reads empty and gas light is always on - Air bag light is on - Service light is on - Temperature gauge never moves, stuck in the middle - Horn has stopped working I've heard from a mechanic that this could be my control panel... it could have been knocked loose during the accident and continued to loosen up or become disconnected which caused everything to go haywire! I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and what the outcome was... Thank you! |

Sounds like it could be a BCM failure. Probably what he meant by control panel. Very expensive to fix. Has it been doing this since the accident? You'd definitely want to get the insurance to pay for the repairs, and not you.

BCM - what does that stand for? =) Im VERY car illiterate!
I am taking the car in to be re-examined by the insurance guy next week... and I want to make sure I have an idea of what to tell him I think is wrong... It all happened after the accident... first the air bag and service lights... then the horn...then the gas gauge.... then the temp gauge, it happened over a couple months but all after the accident... Does anyone know where in the Vue the BCM is located? |

Body Control Module. When they go bad (which happens somewhat frequently on Vues) all sorts of seemingly unrelated computer issues begin to happen. I'd search around about it. it's never happened to my Vue (knock on wood), but hopefully someone who has experienced a BCM failure can chime in (Spazie?)

'hopefully someone who has experienced a BCM failure can chime in'
Oh, that's funny. Considering one of the possible BCM symptoms is 'The Chimes of Death' when the chime sounds at inappropriate times while the gauges go nuts. |
