I had a problem with the heater fan switch in my 01 SC2, and was able to take it apart and clean the contacts.

I have had good luck repairing these switches (had this problem with three out of five of my 2002/03 Vues),
The switch contact portion comes off with ease. Clean the contacts and remove any slightly raised melted plastic with a sharp xacto blade. |

Thanks to all the comments on this thread I fixed the problem myself and saved some $. A special thanks to OhioVueBoy for his instructions on getting into the dash, and IMkenNY for his suggestion on cleaning the contacts. Just as you suspected, I had to clean the contacts and remove some raised plastic that had melted and expanded. That was the exact problem and I fixed it.
