Question Replacing steering wheel - how do I make sure coil behind steering wheel is ok?

I am replacing steering wheel and the coil just turned and now I see warning that says you have to put correctly otherwise it can damage system and malfunction airbag.

How do I make sure its in correct position?

turn it very slowly and carefully in one direction. At some point, you'll feel an increase in the resistance. That's the wire inside being pulled too far that direction. Turn the opposite direction, again, slowly and carefully, and o**** the number of turns.

Turn it back half that amount, and it'll be centered enough.

FWIW, I'm pretty certain there's a few extra turns worth of wiring inside the clock spring, so it being a single turn off shouldn't be a big deal.

I am not certain, but don't recall there being that much extra; I would take care to be sure it is centered correctly.
