Default Ignition Key Stuck, Will NOT Turn or Come Out

I have a 98 SL2, with a bunch of miles.
The Key will not come out of the Ignition, It is currently in the off postion.
I can not turn the key to acc, or on.
The steering wheel turns freely, I can how ever turn it to a point were I can feel were the steering wheel lock is at, but will turn beyond that point.

Here is what I have tried;
WD-40
Wiggiling the key while pulling
Wiggiling the key while pulling with clutch in
Wiggiling the key while pulling with clutch in, and turning wheel
Wiggiling the key while pulling with clutch & break in, and turning wheel
Moved gear shift back and forth while jiggleing key.
Pulling on it with pliers
Disconnected battery, and everythnig above
Reconnected Battery and everything above.

Its like the soleniod that holds the key in is stuck.

Thank You

Wrench Re: Ignition Key Stuck, Will NOT Turn or Come Out

try wiggling the key while pushing it in and turning the wheel slightly then pull the key out. pressing the clutch and/or brake and/or shifting gears won't do anything. you may need to get a new key cut or new ignition cylinder.

well mine is automatic but i think the manuals have the same thing. there should be a braided cable that runs from the shifter to the steering column. It controls the lock cylinder. Take that cable off the shifter and just let it hang, you should be good.

There is a bell crank in the shift console that determines if the shift lever is in park. This bell crank gets dry and doesn't go to the park position. This happened on one of my daughters car. She would wait and after a while she could get the key out. I opened up the console and sprayed WD40 on the bell crank and she never had the problem again.

OK I got it Out.
I tried waht others stated, the manual trans does not have a lock out.

I ended up pulling the ket out with plyers, hitting ignition with a hammer this dislodged it.

I inserted the key turned to the on position, took a little screwdriver and pressed in on the lock tab

Removed the ignition tumbler cleaned it with carb cleaner and put it back in.

Works good enough until I buy a new tumbler.
