Default help asap...security light wrench light

I went to start the car(2000 sl1) to grab some lunch while at work here and car acted like battery was dead. Found positive terminal on battery slightly loose and once tightened could then crank car over....Now the security light in the dash is flashing(started this earlier today on my way into work) with the key turned to ignition AND the wrench lights up above the service engine soon light. When I crank it almost starts but dies instantly. I can hear the fuel pump does come on with ignition before cranking. Any ideas? Need to be able to get home later with car if possible, thanks. Also I pulled the pcm-1, pcm-B and PCbatt(? Spelling) fuses out underhood and left out for a few min before reinstalling and trying again.

sounds like your anti-theft is kicking in. leave the key on (ignition) for 10(?) mins and then the light should go out, turn the key off and then try to start it

Security reset procedure is in the owner's manual; I think you have to repeat the "10-minute key-on" thing three times, or some such.

I found this in another thread. Thanks Guys

1. Turn the key to START briefly and then back to "RUN" (the car will not start)
2. Once you have done this, leave the car in "RUN" (NOT ACCESSORY and DO NOT turn it to "LOCK!"!) for ten minutes, or until the Security light goes out (which ever happens first)
3. Turn the key to "OFF" and then return to step #1.
4. Repeat a total of 3 times (total elapsed time 30+/- minutes)
5. When you have completed the above, the car should start and run normally and will continue to do so from then on.

NOTE: If at any time the car DOES actually start and run, you are DONE and do not need to continue to repeat the sequence.

The single 10 minute time out with the ignition left ON until the security light stops flashing or turns off is for resetting Passlock. This should be all that's necessary to get the car started. The three 10 minute time outs is for a whole sale replacement of major security pieces that make up Passlock, GM's theft deterrent system. Some parts are; the Passlock sensor assembly surrounding the ignition switch assembly, the pcm, bcm, etc.. This repeated procedure is for the electronics to relearn all the pieces replaced to synchronize communications for security otherwise the engine will be prevented from starting up.

Thanks, I am not too sure what caused the passlock to kick in in the first place. The key is kinda difficult to turn in the ignition and has been for the few years I have owned the car. The day it happened the car wouldnt start because the battery cables werent making good connections. So i guess it could be one or the other. If it is ignition related would it be the Ignition Cylinder or the Ignition Starter Switch that would need to be replaced. I dont see how my cylinder if difficult to turn, but in fact still does, could cause a faulty signal to the BCM.

Its been suggested that if the ignition key is difficult to turn in the lock cylinder, try using the spare unused key or have a new one made from GM with the car's VIN so the key isn't a duplicate made from a worn out key.

When a worn out key is turned with difficulty, part of the Passlock ignition sensors are tied to the lock cylinder. Not physically but attached to detect lock cylinder/ignition switch rotation. The sensors detect ignition switch rotation that synchs Passlock's system to it. Any less than precise rotation can trigger Passlock security and prevent the car from running. Ignition switches and lock cylinders tend to last the life of a car but stretching this life beyond 10 years is bordering on wearing parts out. The wear in the ignition key or lock cylinder that makes it difficult to turn easily can be detected as an incorrect theft attempt at smooth ignition turn-on so Passlock triggers the security lock down.
