Default ticking noise

1996 Saturn DOHC Manual Trans.
ok i have a ticking noise coming from the timing chain side(passenger side) The noise only happens under acceleration. I have no carpet in my car so i can hear the noise from the inside. My oil level is fine so its not that. Any ideas what it could be? I put it in neutral and reved it up slowly but no noise. IM LOST!!!

So it happens when you accelerate in gear but not when it's in neutral? Is that right?

I would check suspension and drive axle components. Does the ticking happen while making turns, while going straight, or is it nondiscrimentory? Is there any correlation with the frequency of the ticks and what the car is doing (e.g. the ticks go faster when engine in reving faster)? Does it happen only under hard accelerations or any acceleration?

nondiscrimentory. there is correlation with the frequency of the ticks and what the car is doing .the ticks go faster when engine in reving faster!! it happens under hard acceleration mostly but as soon as i let off the gas it stops. Turning has no effect on it. only the gas pedal seems to.

yea thats what im thinking. Either that or i spun a crank bearing. So im just going to look for a used engine. I found a place i can get one for $850. A rebuild kit cost about 1200$. Plus my engine has 150,000 miles with a rebuld never done. I bought it with 40,000 miles on it in 2000. The one thing that has gone right is i installed the header off a 92. Has to do some modifications to my rigged exaust but its all in workin order now. Sounds pretty good also.

For what it's worth, have you checked your CV joint on the passenger side?

A spun crack bearing usually make a lot more noise than a ticking usually more like a knocking sound that is lower in tone.

If your noise is coming from whats seems like the top of the motor my money would be on the top timing chain guide, the plastic comes loose and makes a ticking noise.
