Idea exhaust resonator cut off

I drive a 02 Sl2 with the dohc motor .I have bored the throttle body, put a air intake on, and cut off the muffler. I was wonderin if It would be possible to run my car without a resonator or muffler and gain any performance without causing any problems like exhaust sensor codes are not enough back pressure. and to add to that question if i add a legth after i cut it off would that help.

Please reply .

It won't set any codes. It will sound like *****. Performance gains will be minimal, if any. I'd suggest having a performance muffler put on. Something like a Dynomax Super Turbo is a nice, quiet, yet high-flow muffler. Couple that with a cat-back (you'll STILL want a resonator) and you'll definitely see some gains, and not wake up the neighborhood.

Why run open header on a car that needs backpressure for any decent torque?
Running no muffler sounds bad enough!
