Default Wave Plate Issue

I asked this in the thread below with no response....

Is there a known range of VINS that may be impacted? The reason I'm asking is because I have a 2008 VUE XR with roughly 65K and from reading through the various threads this is about the mileage the issue rears its ugly head (so far no warning signs though).

In reading through the various Outlook/Acadia forums itís much more problematic there....probably because they sold a heck of a lot more. Wonder if a transmission fluid change might be good preventive maintenance

Wish GM would do a recall for all of us (wishful thinking).

gm 6 speed auto thru 2009 used 3 5 r wave plate that tends to brake. redisigned for 2010. seems to break more on heavier vehicles such as outlook, enclave etc. can be replaced . once it breaks tranny overhaul as pieces get everywhere.

It would also be interesting to see if it is more AWD than FWD (if they also used the same tranny on the 3.6L with AWD).

My '08 XR has 109k and is going strong. I did notice on the Carfax that it was serviced at 98k (I bought it at 99k), but there was nothing that explicitly said "transmission service". Hopefully it won't have a problem - or it's already been fixed.

Did you buy yours new? If not, you might check the Carfax or visit a GM dealer with the VIN and ask them if it's ever been replaced.
