Default Questions for the pros

i have a 94 sl2 that needs to be rebuilt. im gonna do it myself but have a few ? i need to do the rings and such but i have found a 01 short block at a yard that had the head bought from someone else. this short block has 16000 miles on it and from what i understand i can use this with my head without any modifications right. also i plan on getting my head ebuilt with new valves and such, for who has had this done and what does this usually cost. my plan was origanaly to rebuild the lower end on my engine but i heard the newer 00 and up had better rings and such and since this is a low mile short block it will be most cost effective for me. im just not sure what i should expect to pay for the headwork. this car is going to be a work car and i have no intentions on modding it

head work is pretty cheap,
it really depends geographiclly but in IL, you'll pay about $150-$200 for a valve job and new seals.

I think you want the "Bill Deebs" build engine. He takes the best parts from several different years that will work with any ECU and gets up to 133 hp at the wheels, about 145 at the crank.

that price was not with new valves right. im not in to the red light racing or anything like that, i just drive over a 100 miles to work and want reliability and longevity, as long as i own this car it wont see any go fast parts.
