Default 2006 ion air conditioner only works on low

I have a 2006 Saturn Ion2 and the air conditioner a week ago worked on 1 and 4 now if you pushed and played with the fan speed. But now it doesn't work on anything but 1, And of course we are coming into our hottest part of the year. Any idea on what I should replace first?

I don't have '06 wiring diagrams for reference. If '05 Ion wiring is similar then the first three speeds are thru a resistor card with high speed a direct connection between the hvac blower switch and blower motor (see below for '05 Ion blower wiring diagram). Examine the main ground wire from the blower motor too as this tends to heat up from high current demands and can burn terminal connections and/or wire. Although your descriptions doesn't point to a damaged resistor card, its located under the blower housing and removable after disconnecting the electrical connector. When a resistor card burns out, it usually ruins the lower speeds while not interfering with high speed blower to move air. Possible ground wire issues to the blower is my guess.
