Default Just changed my headlight bulbs

I just changed my headlight bulbs from OEM to Silverstars. What a pain in the rear to remove. Had to buy a special slotted screwdriver to slip down to the lower arm. Then tok forever to pop it loose. Once I got it out, getting the bulb out was simple. Looks like the highbeams can come out without using tools. WTF did GM/ Saturn make the low beams such a pain? Has anyone else had as much trouble changing out their bulbs?

I changed the bulbs on our 04 standing in the parking lot of Autozone with no problems at all. IIRC, it was a matter of twist and pull and out it came, similar to the bulbs on my SL2.

You want to talk about a pain to change, try the pop-up lights on the first gen SC2. I've changed mine twice in the ownership of mine and it's a total pain because they have to be unscrewed. They're a sealed beam light. The CHMSL lights are even harder because you have to practically disassemble your trunk to get to them.

Have you 'seen the light' yet with the new bulbs? It never ceases to amaze me how pitiful the OEM bulbs in the VUE were. It's literally like night and day when you go to Silverstars.

I'll admit it is not the easiest to change but definitely not the worst. My 95 Olds you had to remove both cornering lamps, the grill, and then the headlight to get to the bulbs. It wasn't hard, but kind of time consuming.

The easiest car to replace the headlight bulbs on was my 93 Subaru Legacy. You just reached in, gave a quarter turn and that was that. No removing anything!

I have't "seen the light" yet, as that the sun is still up here. But, I'm leaving for work earlier tomorrow just to see the difference. I've had the lights since October but never had time to replace them until now. My next just is to replace the chmsl with leds if I can find them along with the regular brake lights. I would do the turn signals but I see that theres a special needed to keep the lights from flashing too fast. Not a big deal but I heard that the unit gets hot and can cause a fire if it sits against anything too long.

I did not see much of an improvement with the Silverstars. They had a whiter color than the OEM lamps.

I just used a regular but long flat head screw driver to replace all my headlights... I went with Silverstar Ultras for a night then to the Street Glow High watt ones then still not much of a difference from stock... then I went to HIDs.

BTW all stock headlights are those crappy yellow ones... besides the HIDs

Yes you have to remove the whole head light assembly.

I installed the Ultra II, they were a big improvement. I did had to sand the bulb body down to fit the lamp assembly. (both the high and low beam)

I also replaced my fog lamp bulbs. Now that was a waste. As far as I am concerned the fog lamps are just show. Don't waste your money.

Did you take pix of the stock vs the silverstar ultra? That is one thing I forgot to do. Here is the Silverstar Ultra II VS the HID 8,000k.

Wow, I've seen the light this morning and I love it!!!!!!!!!!! With the time change, it's dark out when I leave for work now. Didn't know the OEM lights were so bad. The Silverstars are much brighter and whiter then the factory units. Don't know why I waited so long to change them. I'm wondering now that when I change the fog lights, will they be just better then the OEMs. Not sure if I want to go with CoolBlues or Silverstars for them also. What does every else think for the foglights?

The cool blue look significantly dimmer when next to the silverstar ultra. I was not very impressed. Tho compared to the HID the silverstars look crappy and yellow :P

Good point, but the only way I'd do that is if I were to get projectors... Which gets into tons of money... So, there it is for now. haha
