First numbers with the G-tech

Well, I was not blown away. The measured whp was between 106 and 108 HP in first and second gear measurements. The road may not be completely flat, and drag plays a small part here too.

Anyway, I will use it as a baseline. Bone stock, factory fill 5W30, 27deg ambient. Full tank of gas, accounted for.

Next step, custom Monster Flow intake.

Not trying to bust your chops, mate, but that seems kinda low. The website lists the I-4 manual at 144 HP (granted, that's peak and at the flywheel), but if you're only getting 106 out of the g-tech, that's a loss of over 26%. That's more than usual for a manual. You don't have a VTi do you?

Personally, I'd be trying to optimize for fuel economy, but having the engine produce peak power is part of that equation. If it's underperforming then you'll have to romp on it more just to do your daily driving.

Where'd you get your g-tech and how much did you pay for it?

I'd say the 20's probably played a part in the low reading. I KNOW you're putting down more power than that.

It's ok, I think it is a bit low also.

And don't blame it on the 20s, I'm keeping them

Maybe I was running slightly uphill. I will try to find a flatter spot to test. I did see a 115 number, but I think I was going slightly downhill? on that one...

I am not too concerned with the actual number. As long as it is consistent within a given road stretch. And it seems to be.

FYI, the contour (mtx) had a loss between 15-18% from the drivetrain. So yes, 26% sounds a bit high.

Dante, off e-bay, and it was 70$ shipped. The old model, but it has proven accurate enough in testing.

Did not test those yet. They tend to beat up my clutch (I don't get wheel spin, I get clutch slip!).

I will do a few just for giggles. Maybe tonight.

For these systems dont you have to set your vehicle weight? Maybe that could be making a difference?

It would be interesting to see if there is a performance difference between the 20's and stock tires and wheels and if there is, how much?
