Default Progress sway bar

Well, I finally bit the $149.95 bullet and bought the Progress rear sway bar from PTuning.com. Depending on how big and tasty my first official Saturn paycheck is, I might be snapping up SPS's strut tower brace as well. I'm hoping to have the rear sway bar, strut tower brace, and the Redline front swaybar I've had for a while now installed and on my car by the first week of December. Should go well with my Eibach springs.

Only mod left after that will be the SCDyne header. Just having to wait for a new batch to be made.

Not a clue. Try asking Progress directly. Go to their website, ask 'em about it. If they want to make money, and I'm sure they do, ask and you shall receive an answer.

Such sadness and woe. Did you know that the Redline has a redesigned rear trailing beam axle? Looking through the Ion parts catalog, there is no part number for a sway bar, nor mention of a sway bar, for the rear. It's really odd.

That's good. I had a fellow here, drives a Honda, telling me that it wouldn't make a difference since I've got a solid rear axle. I'm telling him, trailing beam or no, it's going to make a difference. I'm going to enjoy it, that's for sure. I've also got a Redline front swaybar to be put on at the same time, and a strut tower brace coming soon after. Good lord, my car's gonna handle like there's no tomorrow.

I'm getting a custom front tower bar coming. I am thinking of picking up the redline front swaybar as well. Waiting for the right time. I also want my car to handle like its on rails. AND it will, already handles pretty damn good compared to my buddy's last-gen prelude.

So how much did you end up dumping for all the struts and sway bars? I was thinking about getting that progressive one because the back end is really soft when I whip my econobox Ion on the backroads. Do you plan to do the installation yourself as well? Also, when you got your Eibach springs, how much did you pay for installation? I was thinking about getting the Sprints for around $200 and shipping costs, but my dealer said that it would be roughly $400 for installation and if its installed anywhere else it might void the suspension warranty. That would be pretty sweet deal to throw away because saturn gave me like an extra 3 years because the car used to be a lemon. Also, do you have rims or tires on your car? An ion with a 1.5" drop and the stock wheels and tired would look kinda beat. It would cost around like 3 grand to get excellent handling performance out of an ion and I cant really afford that on a high school senior budget

$240 for the Redline swaybar and bushings from Saturn. $149.95 for the Progress rear swaybar. Paying a friend at work to put it on for $80. Don't have new struts/absorbers installed, probably never will unless the stock ones burst. Eibach springs are nice, $235 through TireRack two years ago, cost me about the same to put them on. Wheels on there right now are indeed the stock ones, but I have a nice set of the 16" alloy wheels that came on the Ion 3, with 205/55R-16 tires on them. Nice look. The car's a sleeper, and cost me about $2500 to get to this point.

Ive seen a pic, many actually, with the progress sway bar on their Ion. Why would you pay a friend 80 to do it when you could do it yourself? And you paid 235 for springs?! have you checked ebay? Ive seen sprints go for like 200 and others for less. And my real question...how do you get those shorter shift knobs on your ion. The stock rubber one looks almost impossible to get off

I'm paying a friend to install not just the Progress swaybar, which is an easy install, but also a Redline front swaybar, which requires dropping the cradle, so I'm having him do both at the same time. I bought my springs new from TireRack.com, and they're Eibachs, not Sprints. The short shifter knob, as you call it, is done as follows: Twist the collar underneath the shifter to release the boot. Push that down as far as you can. Take a hacksaw, place it below the shifter knob, and cut. Put an aftermarket knob that uses set screws on the shaft. Get a new ziptie, put the boot back as it was, and you're done. Use the Search Forum function if you're still hazy.
