Default Can a burned out light bulb cause other problems?

The "Lap Belt" light on my dashboard is out ('92 SC - TwinCam - Automatic). It has probably been out for a long, long time, and I just didn't know it.

Can burned out dash lights cause actual problems with other systems in the car?

One more question: Is my car supposed to have an 'Shift To D2' light? I don't remember *ever* seeing this light.

TIA.

Lap Belt? Like seat belt light?

Yes, just a burnt out instrument light CAN cause other "Problems". I don't know if Seat belt bulb is one of them but Shift bulb should be. Are you getting a SES light, - should give you the Quad Driver Failure code, 23 IIRC.
Do a search on it.

The SES light and the others work just fine (and I'm not getting an SES light). The only one that doesn't work is the Lap Belt light.
And I'm not sure if my car is supposed to have a 'Shift To D2' light - if it is, then that's burned out too.

So what are the possible problems that burned out bulbs could create?

If there is a shift to d2 light, it should be outlined in your owner's manual.
I don't know *anything* about Saturn Autotragic Transmissions, I avoid them. However, I do have an upshift light in mine, so having a light isn't out of the question. I know my 95 owner's manual outlines the lights on the dash. I don't think it'll tell you much, but it will confirm or deny the existance of the light, which seems to be part of the objective here.
I'm also remembering my grandma's 90 Olds Cutlass Supreme with the digital dash, and it had shift light built into it, although the computer never lit it up, because that had an autotragic too, but the light was there... Just not used. Maybe the gauge cluster has the upshift light in the same way and doesn't use it because it's an auto. IDK...
