Default Re: Sneak Peak: Should Saturn Offer a Coupe and Wagon Version of its Next-Generation

The "estate" treminds me of the Audi allroad that I just returned off lease.
I have an '08 XR now but I'd get one of these in a wagon/avant/variant.
Hey Saturn product folks: PLEASE offer Xenons in all versions !!

Default Re: Sneak Peak: Should Saturn Offer a Coupe and Wagon Version of its Next-Generation

In keeping with Saturn's new vision of European design, I think bringing the wagon here would be a good idea. It might not be bigger seller initially, but I think will will gain momentum as people stop buying big SUVs/Crossovers. I don't think, however, that they should sell the coupe version. We already have the Pontiac G6 coupe in the US and it just looks too much like each other.

Yes Wagon, and I think HIDs would be great, along with projectors.

How about a Convertible-Hardtop version, a quad coupe, and a wagon? that would be nice!

Both coupe and wagon variants should be offered and let the market decide their fates. HIDs should at least be offered as optional equipment.

2008 Astra XE
Default Re: Sneak Peak: Should Saturn Offer a Coupe and Wagon Version of its Next-Generation

Love the wagon idea. I think it's going to become much more popular in the coming days as folks begin abandoning their SUVs. (Hint hint: Ecotec 4-cyl manual wagon please! I know I'm dreaming...)

I'm much less enthusiastic about a coupe. Not nearly as practical as the sedan and most look like sedans with 2 long doors. Besides, not too many are enjoying sales success in the last few years (Altima, Solara, etc...)

Yes people are abandoning SUVs but they are not going to Wagons, they are going to Crossovers like the Vue, and CRV. More room, more practical, and it doesn't look like an abomination moving down the road.

Heck even the Dodge Magnum has been shelved and it was arguably the only good looking wagon on the market.

I would like to say though that we need HIDs and a NAV system as options.

Take a look at what is classified as a wagon per Car and Driver. I'd hardly say wagons are dead.

Wagons are good and are making a comeback as a more fuel efficient variant of the SUV. I liked the L series wagon. However, IMO, the reason that the L series wagon did not sell in great numbers was due to price. If an Aura wagon runs in the 30K neighborhood, then the Subaru Outback becomes the alternative. AWD for the same price or less.
