Default wierd saturns on Ebay

well, I was doing a routine beowse on eBay, and I came on a coupe of wierd Saturns, both S-Series.

1st: a rare RHD (right hand drive) SW1:

Here

this is a white wagon, the owner says it was used as a postal vehicle on rural roads, which I can belive. all the postal vehicles around here in the city are custom Windstars with RHD. I would deff. trade my SW1 for this one, because of the shock value, and I am a closeted European, and I often have a strong urge to drive on the left with a steering wheel on the right. I have only seen one other of these on ebay, or anywhere else, and the seller said it was a european car, but from what I can recall, Saturns were never sold in Europe.

2nd: a custom painted, customized CONVERTIBLE 1991 SL1:

Here

this one is a beauty. it's got a sexy black w/ yellow flame paint job, custom white/black leather seats, and the stock steering wheel is white. it also has a nice CD player. I dont think I could use this one, but it would make a nice car to drive in the Woodward Dream Cruise every year. other than that, I believe I wouldnt drive this one very much.

so, what do you think? and have any of you seen any wierd/out of place/misfit Saturns?

-digital

...
1998 SW1 gold/charcoal bumper with 168,000 miles on it (grandmother's car). originally had 21,266 miles on it when I started driving it.

Saturn cars were sold in Japan, so that might explain why some Saturn cars have a RHD. I'm originally from Japan, so I know some people over there got Saturn cars. In my opinion, it's very inconvenient to drive an opposite hand drive because of tolls, gas stations, etc. I cannot drive a RHD here because I would probably drive on the left side of the lane and cause an accident.

you could go to the Saturn dealership and order a SW postal Wagon which is RHD but i think you have to actually be in the postal business i used to have a RHD Cherokee Postal Vehicle and also i had a japanese spec Honda CRX with RHD

Maybe they had to borrow from another car because the original shifter button would have been on the wrong side.

Good point I didn't think of that. It looks like the button is on the back.

Not much fun to get in and out of after the first couple of times though? Better work on the Austin Powers somersault for that one.

Lol, the only problem right now is our 15 year rule..
"If a passenger vehicle has not been passed on the emmisions testing at the Canadian border, it has not been certified to enter Canada. If such vehicle enters past the border, it will be crushed at the owners expence."
Now that makes me wonder, HOW THE HELL WOULD HE GET HOME if his car was crushed :P

Here's a wierd one I saw on ebay a while ago.

An original 91 from the batch that had engine casting problems. No title. Apparantly saturn corporate chopped a lot of these up in a similar fashion to demonstrate unique features.

I'd like to try driving a RHD just for a day to see what its like. I think it could become an inconvenience after a while though...

Yebbut, in most of Europe (the entire mainland), they drive on the right.

IIRC, this model was known as the SWP, the P meaning Postal. Hmm, what happens if you "go postal" in one?...

I have a couple of questions on the convertible. The cage is in the way of the doors, so would you have to climb over them to get in? If so, why not just weld the doors shut? And if you were in an accident with that car and it rolled over, you would be made shorter.

From what I understand there is a BIG reason why this is in the vehicle. Without the "rollcage" the car would be as flimsy as bologna. The "rollcage" are actually support beams to stiffin her up... By the way, have fun when that car flips and you get crushed. At least it will scratch of that 80's flame job... ugh...

I remember seeing that sedan with NO ROOF. not really "convertible" since there was no top to fold back up.

Saturn also sold a right hand steering wagon in the US for postal service. it was the SWP.
