Default Delta-based Saturn S mentioned in USA Today

http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2001-06-18-gm-smallcars.htm

It seems that GM is now talking about introducing the Delta-based Cavalier at around the same time as the new Saturn S.
Interesting.

while platform sharing has many benifits having the stigma of being built on the same platform as the base chevy cavalier doesnt sit to well with me. next, the different kind of company approach with the same kind of car dont appeal to me either.

So, if the Saturn S will be sharing platform and parts with the Chevy Cavalier, the Saturn L will be sharing platform Chevy Malibu, and the Chevy Vue will eventually be shared with the nextgen Chevy Tracker, how much does Saturn's "A Different Kind of Car, A Different Kind of Company" motto stand? Certainly, the car won't be all that different from other GM, and hearing stories like those of recent doesn't make me feel like the Company is "Different" in any good way.

GM has long been concerned about its lack of young buyers. Pontiac and Chevrolet, GM's two youth brands, have 33% and 28%, respectively, of their buyers under age 35; just 25% of Saturn's buyers are under 35, J.D. Power says.

But Volkswagen has 47% of its buyers under 35; Honda, 36%. Ford says its Focus, sold with few incentives, counts 43% of its buyers under 35.

-------------------------------------
....see, this is the problem when you start making cars that aren't what the buyer wants. Its reality check time for Saturn.

Oh, no. Just read the article and Daewoo is mentioned.

Hope Daewoo won't have a part in the new Saturn models. If so, it's probably Toyota for my family.
