Default Clutch Hydraulics...!!

Well my story goes like this.

I decided to play mechanic for the day. I put in used hydraulics and they didn't work. I couldn't put in my old ones either. I didn't have the little cap and they were closed. So my dad thought he was going to be smart and tried bleeding them even though I told him that it wasn't going to work. So I now have two broken pairs of hydaulics.

So I am off to Saturn on Saturday to go and spend 250$ on brand new ones.

Questions I have, what should the pedal feel like after I put these ones in and is there anything I need to watch out for as I install them. I am following the how-to, and after putting in and taking out hydraulics, I have the procedure memorized. Thanks for you responses.

just be careful, i had to put a new system in my car when i replaced the motor\clutch it only set me back 175 from the dealer. thats all there really is besides the how to guide, is be careful. and as far as the feel of the clutch should be about the same firmness as the gas pedal. (i think thats what youre asking)

Different flavor of dollars. (Not to mention, even with the exchange rate, there's the "we gotta get this stuff way the hell up to Saskatchewan" surcharge.)

As for clutch pedal feel, is there an S-car in the dealer's used lot you could try out for comparison?

Well my dad has a 2001 SL2 5-speed. But again, its a brand new SL2 compared to a 12 year old SL1. All I care about right now is getting my car out of the garage so I can drive again. Since I have a whole lot of free time today, I will talk to Saturn about getting the retainer cap...try that out and see if it will work or not. I will still order in the new hydraulics though but I mean, I might as well give it a try if the cap doesn't cost over 20 $.

and yes Saturn parts in Regina,SK,Canada are so much more money than getting Saturn parts in USA. It really sucks. I'm glad there is a local junkyard that I can find little parts here and there. Like I found a DRL module that would cost 94$ dollars here and I got it at the junkyard for free. So yeah, it really sucks when something breaks. Again, I'm friends with the parts guys at Saturn so they always throw deals or tell me not to buy parts here and go somewhere else.

i didnt notice at first that you were in canada that far up, so that explains the price. I bought mine (here in the US) for about $120US at autozone. it was the whole assembly, including the slave cylinder and resevoir. Mine was very loose and wouldnt shift at all when i replaced mine, now its very tight and is a bit harder to get into gears than most other 5spd cars that i have driven, but thats typical as i can tell from any type of saturn.
