Default Whats Interchangeable between the SOHC & DOHC?

Alright fellas here's the deal. I have 93 DOHC that i recently spun a bearing in. I know some of the stuff is interchangeable between the SOHC/DOHC motors and since i have never worked with a single i was just trying to get an idea about how much is interchangeable. I already know the SOHC pistons fit in the DOHC and not visa versa. Well long story short i've spun a bearing in my DOHC and know where i can get a SOHC motor. Is it possible to make one motor out of the two? Because i can save a lot of money going this route and was just wandering if its possible.
Lastly when i pull the engine out of the car is it better to pull it with the tranny still on or break it away from the engine? Thanks, Jesc

Since you have an automatic, the engine can be removed without removing the transaxle. If it were a manual, the tranny would come out with the engine. Here's a thread with the complete removal procedure...

THanks for the info, Anyone else know anything regarding the mixing and matching of the two engines? Thanks, Jesc
