Default Saturn Points Program

I've heard that some Saturn dealers have frequent service programs that offer discounts on service and maybe even build earnings toward future purchases. Anyone actually seen such a thing

Not at my dealer. But that would be a really cool idea ... encourage people to come back to the dealer for their oil changes instead of taking it somewhere else.

Of course, I take mine to the dealer because it's the same price as everywhere else and they treat me the best. Plus I get to wander around and play with new Saturns while I'm waiting.

I wish. Many years ago I recall my retailer running an oil change promotion where you got a free oil change after you bought a certain amount of oil changes but that ended long ago. In recent years they often would give $10 off your service bill if you took a test drive while you waited for your car but no more "frequent flier miles"

I remember years ago when you could pre-purchase 5 oil changes at Firestone for $80 & the six oil change was free. Ah, the good ol' days.

Ours has a punch-card for a free oil change. Can't remember if you have to buy four or five to get one free.

Also got a $10 off service coupon in the mail today, kind of a Christmas "gift." Expires 1/31 and I'm not due for any service before then.

Every now and then I'll get little offers along with my oil change. Like right now, the "reminder" sticker that they put on the windshield has $2 off tire balance and rotation at my next oil change. Not that I'll be using it (free lifetime balance/rotation on my tires at where they're being installed tomorrow), but it's better than not being offered anything.

They offer certain programs called "Basic Care" and one more comprehensive service contract where when you buy a new one [ see www.saturn.com ] you can pre pay for regular servicing for one price. Basic care is for up to 36,000 miles and the more deluxe package 60,000.
Don't know if they only offer it to new car buyers or if current owners can get it too.

My dealership has the punch card where you can buy 4 oil changes and get the 5th one free. I normally just let them change my oil for me now since they also give me a frequent customer discount.

After some googling around I found that the Saturn dealership in Doylestown, PA has a program called "AutoRewards"

here's the skinny

"With the swipe of your membership card or key tag, you will earn 15% of every dollar you spend at any Fred Beans dealership or affiliate location. This 15% can be used toward the purchase price of your next new or pre-owned Fred Beans vehicle. Each point equals $1 in future discounts. When you are ready to buy or lease, simply present your valid Fred Beans AutoRewards card or key tag to your sales consultant and the balance of your Fred Beans AutoRewards points, up to $2,000, will be applied toward the price of your new vehicle."

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Wow!! That sounds like a good deal to me!! It does a great job of encouraging repeat customers too. I mean, if you can get $2000 off your next car just by getting service there, people are going to not only get service, they're gonna buy their next car there too!!

IIRC, I received $500 off my latest purchase as a "frequent buyer reward". (3rd time)
That, with the addition of a GM supplier discount, sweetened the deal.

Thumbs Up Re: Saturn Points Program

I've never been to http://www.saturnofdoylestown.com/ but that is where I get all my OEM Saturn parts! I send them an e-mail with part numbers, they send me back the prices, and I jump for joy because their prices are less than one-half the prices at my local Saturn retailer (http://www.saturnofgaithersburg.com/. Then I tell them to mail the parts to me and 2 days later they are on my doorstep.

Road Trip!!

Well I have no idea about points and bonus deals. I have never met anyone at a Saturn dealer. I saw one down in Chippewa Falls (3 hours away) the same day I bought my SC1 but never went to it. I bought mine at a used car dealer. I also do my own oil changes because I hate change. Well if it's change for the worse. It's kind of like the Miller Lite commercial I think it was. Something about when a man has to use his credit card to change his oil and bringing a new meaning to "dip stick". No offense to anyone. I guess I'm just lucky that I have a garage and I live in the middle of no where.

That's the beauty of the internet -- it's never been easier to be disloyal to your own local selling dealer. Have you been earning Fred Beans points on your parts purchases?

True - with the Internet we can shop for the best bottom line price on common things within a few minutes. I can go just about anywhere else than my local Saturn retailer to save lots of money on parts - even with shipping fees added in. For non-car parts I like to check the following web sites:Just punch in the product name and/or model number...

No, I have not been accumulating "points" with my purchase of parts. My choice. The points can only be redeemed by going to them and buying a new or used car. Once I looked at http://www.mapquest.com/ to see how far away they are located from my house and it was something like 2 hours. So unless they delivered the Saturn car to my driveway the way FedEx, UPS, and the US Postal Office deliver Saturn parts to my front door I doubt I would do it.

Funny story. When we bought our new 2003 L200 our local Saturn retailer found it - in northern New Jersey about 4 hours away! They were willing to have somebody drive it from one Saturn retailer to another, and I complained because I didn't want to let the engine get "broken in" by having a car jockey drive 200 miles and try to break land speed records in the process. So they agreed to transport the car for us on a trailer. The day before it was to arrive locally my wife drove by and saw it getting unloaded from a trailer with NJ license plates. That evening I checked it out and found a few things wrong but those were all fixed within the following week: scratches on the paint, dirt on the leather, sagging headliner, scratch on one of the alloy wheels, missing floor mats (yes we looked in the trunk), missing owner's manual, etc. Hey I thought this was a new car! It was - it had less than 100 miles on the odometer but I could see why the NJ Saturn retailer was willing to trade/sell this car to another Saturn retailer... Anyway the story has a happy ending.
