Default power steering pump question

can you get anything different for the power steering pump pulley besides a plastic one?

The question is, why would you want to? Plastic is pretty light and you'll be adding a lot of weight going with an equivalently sized aluminum one. More pulely weight = more parasitic load on the engine.

I have had to change mine, because it shattered everywhere. I would like to eliminate this problem.

What year is your car? Plastic pulleys aren't exactly weak points, we don't hear about them shattering frequently on these boards. What was going on when it shattered?

My car is a '95. My husband was driving down the road, and he heard a loud noise. My car lost power, and he pulled over. There was nothing left of the pulley when we finally got the car to my house.

Just get a new stock one, shouldn't be more than $20 and should last at least another 10 years.
