2000 SL2
Default 3rd gen SL2 exterior door panel removal

I'm going to be replacing the driver side exterior door panel on my 3rd gen SL2. Will these instructions for a 97 SW2 work?

Yes, its the same throughout the s-series. There may be some alterations, but nothing really major.

Default Re: 3rd gen SL2 exterior door panel removal

Done.

It was pretty straightforward. I *carefully* removed the T-30 bolts from the inside of the door with a drill, then pulled the push-pin out from the bottom of the exterior door handle (there was only one pin). I slid the handle to the left, and it came right out.

I tried removing the panel right then, but it was still locked in to the weather strip. There was one T-15 bolt at the rear of the door that had to be removed, and then the weather strip easily pulled out. I also had to remove the mirror. This was done by yanking out the plastic shroud around the manual adjustment knob, and removing three 10mm nuts. The mirror comes right off after that.

I lifted the exterior door panel to unlock it from two tabs on the top edge, and it easily came off. Installation was done in reverse. I took the oppurtunity to put graphite on the T-30 bolts so they won't rust out.
